SEPANG: A Perodua Alza driver was detained yesterday for operating an illegal taxi service at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2.
The Selangor Road Transport Department (RTD) also seized the vehicle during the operation.
In a statement, the department said the tout had charged an Indonesian traveller RM80 for a trip from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1, with payment to be made upon arrival.
The distance between the two terminals is about 5km.
“A person committing the offence can be charged under Section 205(1) of the Land Public Transport Act, which carries a fine of up to RM50,000, a maximum five-year jail term, or both.
“Those abetting such activities can also be prosecuted under Section 243(1) of the same Act,” the department said.
The RTD said complaints can be submitted to [email protected] or through the e-Aduan@JPJ application.
