Kelantan ICQS complexes to open an hour early
KOTA BARU: Three Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) complexes in Kelantan will begin operating an hour earlier from today.
Deputy Kelantan Immigration director Nik Akhtarulhaq Nik Abdul Rahman said the opening time of 6am was agreed upon by both Malaysian and Thai authorities to facilitate cross-border travel.
He said that when the Covid-19 pandemic started six years ago, the three ICQS complexes began operations at 7am.
“Recently, both Malaysia and Thailand agreed to revert to the previous operating hours that start at 6am,” he told the New Straits Times.
He said the Rantau Panjang ICQS will operate from 6am to 10pm, while the two ICQS in Pengkalan Kubor and Bukit Bunga will operate from 6am to 7pm.
He said the move was aimed at easing the movement of people from both countries, especially with the Hari Raya celebrations next week.
It is learnt that traders from both countries had complained that the later opening time had shortened their business hours.
