Family traumatised as cars torched in spate of attacks
SERDANG: A family in Serdang has been left traumatised after two of their cars were set alight in separate attacks, raising fears over their safety.
The wife of 47-year-old activist S. Chandrasegaran, better known as Cikgu Chandra, who wished to remain anonymous, said the first incident occurred in the early hours while she and her child were asleep and her husband was in the living room.
Hearing a commotion outside, she said, they hid in a bedroom.
She said neighbours helped extinguish the fire, but the Proton Ertiga was completely destroyed.
The second attack took place in the afternoon while she was at work, leaving her husband and children at home.

She said an individual driving a Nissan Almera entered the compound and set fire to a Perodua Viva.

“One of my children is preparing for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exams and has been traumatised by these events. My husband has also previously received death threats,” she said.
Cikgu Chandra revealed that the Proton Ertiga, used for e-hailing services, was completely destroyed.
During the afternoon attack around 3.30pm, two masked men armed with a parang forced open the front gate, smashed the rear window of the Perodua Viva, and damaged the iron grille in front of the house.

“They knocked on the front door for nearly three minutes,” he said.
CCTV footage later revealed six people in two vehicles outside the home at the time of the incident.
The attacks escalated in the early hours of the following day when a group returned around 3.20am, reportedly throwing Molotov cocktails at the property.
The Proton Ertiga was completely destroyed, while the Perodua Viva and a Perodua Bezza also suffered fire damage.
Cikgu Chandra said security around the home had since been tightened, but the family remained deeply shaken.
“I hope the authorities act decisively and do not protect any party, as gangsterism appears to be growing bolder,” he added.
