KUALA LUMPUR: Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik’s bid to finally capture the elusive All England men’s doubles crown fell short after they were beaten by world No. 1 Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae in the final at the Utilita Arena Birmingham on Sunday.

The world No. 2 Malaysians went down 18-21, 21-12, 21-19 to the formidable South Korean duo, who claimed their fifth title in as many tournaments and extended their unbeaten run to 25 matches.

It marked the third time Aaron-Wooi Yik have finished runners-up at the sport’s oldest tournament after also falling short in 2019 and 2024.
The defeat also means Malaysia’s 19-year wait for a men’s doubles champion at the All England continues, with the last triumph coming through Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong in 2007.

Despite the setback, reaching a third final remains a notable achievement for Aaron-Wooi Yik, who had been hoping to land their first Super 1000 title after finishing runners-up seven times previously, including at the China Open last July and the Malaysia Open in January.

After winning 11 titles last season, the South Koreans kicked off 2026 in style by capturing the Malaysia Open before continuing their superb run with victory in Birmingham.
