Prasarana instructed to explain LRT Kelana Jaya disruptions, submit recovery plan

KUALA LUMPUR: Prasarana Malaysia Bhd has been instructed to provide an explanation and an immediate recovery action plan following service disruptions on the LRT Kelana Jaya Line.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said he had directed the company’s chief executive officer to present the details at a post-Cabinet meeting.

“I will also instruct the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) to investigate the incidents, with action to be taken against Prasarana if investigations find evidence of unreasonable operational weaknesses,” he said in a statement today.

Loke said he viewed the recent disruptions on the Kelana Jaya LRT seriously.

“The public has the right to demand a more efficient and reliable level of service,” he said.

Earlier, a train malfunction on the line during the morning peak caused overcrowding and commuter frustration.
