‘Bersatu has no future under Muhyiddin’: Wan Saiful withdraws appeal against sacking

KUALA LUMPUR: Tasek Gelugor Member of Parliament Wan Saiful Wan Jan has withdrawn his appeal against his dismissal from Bersatu.

In a Facebook post today, Wan Saiful shared the letter he sent to the Bersatu Appeals Board chairman, saying: “Bersatu no longer has a future because party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has allowed himself to be influenced by secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.”

“I have sent a letter to the Chairman of the Bersatu Appeals Board to withdraw my appeal,” he captioned the post.

“To close this topic, I want to mention one point.

“Among the allegations against me was that I was involved in establishing an Executive Committee (and its extension, the Presidential Council) within Perikatan Nasional.

“Muhyiddin Yassin is doing the same thing today. This is what he wrote in his letter to the party presidents in PN.

“This is the hypocrisy of Muhyiddin and his sycophants.”

Wan Saiful was sacked by the party in October for violating its constitution and code of conduct. He had submitted an appeal earlier this month and presented his case before the party’s appeals board.

He, along with other division chiefs, was dismissed by Bersatu’s disciplinary board over allegations of involvement in a “statutory declaration (SD) movement” aimed at toppling Muhyiddin, as well as their alleged role in a recent commotion during an official event.

On Friday, the party’s deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin was also sacked. Following his dismissal, 16 other Bersatu leaders were expelled the same day.

Among those dismissed were Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council member and Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, and Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin, a party council member and Sungai Manik assemblyman.
