Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in 6 states this morning

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds across six states, effective until 10am today.

In a statement, MetMalaysia said thunderstorms were expected in Sik and Baling (Kedah), Hulu Perak (Perak), Kemaman (Terengganu), and Kuantan (Pahang).

The advisory also covers Sibu, Kapit, and Bintulu in Sarawak, as well as Sandakan and Kudat in Sabah.

MetMalaysia said that warnings were issued when thunderstorms with rainfall exceeding 20 millimetres per hour were imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.
