KOTA TINGGI: A three-month-old baby boy and his 24-year-old mother were killed in a head-on collision at Km65 of Jalan Sungai Rengit–Kota Tinggi here yesterday.

The woman died on the spot from severe head injuries, while the infant succumbed to his injuries later at Kota Tinggi Hospital.

In the 7pm accident, the woman was behind the wheel of her Perodua Bezza, with five other passengers including her infant, when she is believed to have veered into the opposite lane and crashed head-on with an oncoming lorry.

She was travelling from Sungai Rengit towards Kota Tinggi, while the 60-year-old lorry driver was heading in the opposite direction.

District police chief Superintendent Yusof Othman, who confirmed the incident, said the four other passengers and the lorry driver were also rushed to the same hospital and are receiving treatment.
