Father discovers decomposed bodies of daughter, boyfriend

SHAH ALAM: The usually serene neighbourhood in Jalan Setia Indah, Setia Alam, was rocked today by the discovery of two decomposed bodies in a rented double-storey house here.

It is learnt that the bodies were of a man and a woman in their thirties.

The heartbreaking discovery was made by the woman’s father, who had tried over the last two weeks to contact his daughter to no avail.

Speaking to the New Straits Times at the scene, the man, who declined to be named, said he had on numerous occasions rang his daughter, but his calls went unanswered.

He said his visits to the house were also unsuccessful, despite calling out for her at the gate.

“Each visit was unsuccessful. I had called out to her and her boyfriend, with no success. Their shoes at the door also appeared undisturbed.

“I thought they had run away,” he said, adding that his daughter and her boyfriend had been living there for three months.

However, fate intervened when he was contacted today by the landlord, who had wanted to check on his tenants after the couple had missed rent.

“The landlord, a security guard, and I went to the house to check on them. The door was locked, so the landlord and the guard opened it,” he said.

However, he said there was an audible stench even before they opened the door.

“There was a smell when we reached the door. I already knew that something was wrong,” he said.

He said they went upstairs but couldn’t find anything. However, a horrific scene greeted them when they opened the door to a room downstairs.

He said he found his daughter’s lifeless body on the bed while the boyfriend’s body was on the floor.

It is understood that the bodies were in a state of decay.

The landlord then contacted the police.

It is learnt that police do not suspect foul play at the moment.

Meanwhile, neighbours said the couple were often heard quarrelling.

Muhammad Iman Mukhraman Ramli, 31, said the couple’s quarrels were frequent and could be heard day and night.

“They were always arguing, sometimes outside the house and sometimes inside, at night and during the day,” he said when met at the scene.

Iman, a bank manager, said they were surprised when the arguments subsided around two weeks ago.

“I even asked my wife whether the occupants had moved out or had been forced to leave, because they were very noisy before.

“We thought maybe someone had complained and that they had already moved out,” he said.

However, a foul smell detected several days ago raised suspicions.

“About three days ago, my wife was doing laundry at the back and noticed a stench. At that time, she thought it was a dead cat.

“None of us expected that there would be dead bodies inside the house,” he said.

Iman said he was shocked when police later arrived at the location and confirmed the bodies’ discovery.

“When I came home, the police were already here and were looking for neighbours to speak to. They asked me what I knew, and I told them everything,” he said.

He added that policemen, including investigating officers and uniformed personnel, were conducting inquiries with residents.
