KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he will provide a comprehensive explanation on the Malaysia–Indonesia border alignment issue during a Special Briefing session in parliament this morning.

Anwar said the detailed clarification is intended to benefit all Malaysians and address the confusion and misunderstandings that have arisen in the community.

“I will explain the Malaysia–Indonesia border alignment issue in detail at the Special Briefing Session in Parliament this morning,” he said in a statement.

“It is my hope that this explanation will benefit everyone, especially in correcting the confusion and misunderstandings that have arisen among the public.”

In late January, he dismissed claims that the Government had handed over more than 5,000 hectares of land to Indonesia as “inaccurate”, stressing that no such transfer had taken place.

Despite the media coverage, the Government has maintained that the land boundary negotiations with Indonesia remain ongoing and are being handled according to legal procedures, with no final decisions yet reached.

In a related development, the cabinet has also requested a detailed explanation from the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry to clarify reports about Indonesian villages allegedly now within Malaysian territory, reflecting the need for clear communication on the matter.
