Motorcyclist killed after falling under lorry during overtaking attempt

North Klang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Vijaya Rao Samachulu said the incident occurred at 4.40pm at the Jalan Meru–Jalan Salleh traffic light junction, travelling from Meru towards Klang.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the motorcyclist was overtaking the lorry in the left lane when he lost control and fell under the vehicle. The rider, a local man, sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said in a statement.
He added that the lorry driver, also a local, was uninjured.
Vijaya Rao said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to RM50,000 upon conviction.
Anyone with information related to the accident is urged to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Ahmad Fadzli, at 017-584 3860, or to come forward at the nearest police station.
