Policeman sustains minor injuries in on-duty accident

BENTONG: A policeman sustained minor injuries in an accident while on duty at Km71.6 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway, east bound, earlier today.

Pahang police chief, Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman, said the officer, Lance Corporal Zulakmal Isa of the Maran Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division, is believed to have slipped after encountering an oil spill on the road surface.

He said the officer was en route to carry out duties at the final location of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s visit to the Karak narcotics addiction rehabilitation centre (Puspen) when the incident occurred.

“The condition of the officer is reported to be stable, and he has been taken to Bentong Hospital for further treatment,” Yahaya told Bernama.

He added that medical examinations, including X-ray tests, confirmed that the officer did not sustain any serious injuries, although he suffered several wounds to his hands, back and knees.

In a Facebook post, Pahang police said Yahaya had taken immediate action following the incident to assist the injured personnel.

“The Pahang police chief also accompanied the injured personnel to the hospital for further treatment,” the post said.

Meanwhile, Yahaya and his team visited the officer at the hospital shortly after the incident to ensure his welfare and monitor his recovery
