KULIM: The identities of the three victims in a fatal accident involving two cars on Jalan Sungai Kob here today have been confirmed as a 25-year-old factory worker and his two sons.

District deputy police chief, Deputy Superintendent Tengku Mohd Faisal Tengku Yeng, said the victims were Muhammad Syazwan Mohd Surodjidin and his sons, Muhammad Aqeel Afnan Muhammad Syazwan, 4, and Muhammad Affan Mikhael, 2.

He said police received reports of the accident at 5.15pm.

“The man, who was also the driver of one of the cars, and his two children were pronounced dead at the scene.

“Preliminary investigations showed the accident occurred after the driver of the other car lost control of his vehicle, crossed into the opposite lane, and collided with the car carrying the family,” he said in a statement today.

He added that the other driver, a 27-year-old workshop employee, sustained injuries and is receiving treatment at a hospital.

Tengku Mohd Faisal said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He added that the bodies of the three victims were taken to the Forensic Unit of Kulim Hospital and will be sent to the Forensic Department of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Star for post-mortem examination.

“The vehicles involved in the accident were later taken to the Kulim Traffic Police Station for Puspakom inspection,” he said.
