ROMPIN: An outing to the beach ended in tragedy for an 11-year-old girl who was found drowned at Pantai Tanjung Pahang in Kuala Rompin here today.

The Year Five pupil from Endau, Johor, was at the beach with her friend’s family when the incident occurred about 5.30pm.

Rompin deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohamad Zamri Mohamad Zaber said the district police headquarters was alerted that a child had been found drowned at the beach about 5.44pm.

“Policemen went to the scene and found the victim unconscious. She was given first aid by members of the public.

“A medical officer from the Teluk Gading health clinic, who assisted in resuscitation efforts, later confirmed that the girl had died at 7pm,” he said in a statement today.
