Five trapped in Rawang bus and lorry crash on North-South Expressway

RAWANG: Four bus passengers and a lorry driver were trapped following a collision involving an express bus and a three-tonne lorry at Km 1.0 of the North-South Expressway southbound, near here, early thise morning.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said a team from the Rawang Fire and Rescue station was deployed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 5.24am.

“The team found that the accident involved a bus and a lorry.

“There were five victims trapped, involving four bus passengers and a lorry driver,” he said in a statement today.

Ahmad Mukhlis said the bus was carrying 42 passengers, including two drivers, with 38 passengers managing to get out safely.

“Four bus passengers were trapped, but three of them have been successfully extricated, while one remains trapped at this time.

“The lorry driver has also been successfully extricated by the rescue team,” he said.

Ahmad Mukhlis said rescue operations were ongoing to free the remaining victim trapped inside the bus using special equipment.
