Flood evacuees rise to 19,422 nationwide, Kelantan worst hit

According to the National Disaster Command Centre (NDCC) 112 temporary relief centres (PPS) are operating across 22 districts in eight states, sheltering 6,554 families.
There have been no fatalities reported so far.
Kelantan remains the worst-hit with 9,981 victims housed at 40 PPS, especially in Tumpat, Kota Bharu, Bachok and Pasir Puteh, where floodwaters remain high and the trend is still rising.
Perlis follows with 2,644 evacuees, while Perak has 2,604 victims, mainly from the districts of Manjung, Perak Tengah and Bagan Datuk.
In Selangor, 2,119 people remain displaced, though flood levels in Kuala Selangor, Petaling and Klang have stabilised.
District-level breakdown shows rising trends in Kota Baru and Bachok (Kelantan), Manjung, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak and Muallim (Perak), Kubang Pasu (Kedah) and Seberang Perai Utara (Penang).
Only a handful of areas, including parts of Selangor, Terengganu’s Besut and some locations in Perlis, reported unchanged conditions.
Telemetry readings from the Department of Irrigation and Drainage show several rivers breaching or nearing warning and danger levels, especially in:
- Kelantan — Sungai Kemasin (Bachok), Sungai Golok (Pasir Mas)
- Perlis — Sungai Perlis (Padang Besar and Kangar)
- Terengganu — Sungai Terengganu and Sungai Setiu
- Penang — Sungai Perai (Seberang Perai Utara)
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued continuous rain warnings, including severe alerts for parts of Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Perak, Perlis and Selangor until Nov 26.
Several districts are also under thunderstorm and strong winds warnings, with rough sea conditions expected to produce waves up to 3.5 metres, dangerous for small vessels.
Road closures across multiple states
The Public Works Department recorded over 100 road closures due to floods, flash floods, landslides, road subsidence and damaged bridges across:
- Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik)
- Perlis (multiple federal and state routes)
- Kelantan (Kota Bharu, Pasir Mas, Tumpat)
- Selangor (Klang, Petaling, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Langat)
- Perak (Manjung, Perak Tengah, Larut Matang & Selama)
- Penang, Pahang and Terengganu (selected routes)
Some key federal routes affected include FT223 (Kota Bharu–Pantai Cahaya Bulan), FT008 (Kota Baru–Kuala Krai–Gua Musang), FT194 and FT276 in Kedah, and FT006 in Penang.
Several routes remain fully closed, while others are open only to heavy vehicles or single-lane traffic.
A check of dam status nationwide indicates that most facilities are operating within normal parameters, though several— including Congok (Johor), Bekok (Johor), Malut (Kedah), Asahan (Melaka), and Timah Tasoh (Perlis) — are at 100 per cent capacity, requiring close monitoring.
