Kuala Lumpur welcomes new mayor: Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud begins tenure
NEW Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud has clocked in for his first day of work on Monday (Nov 17).
He was welcomed by a parade and cultural performance at the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) headquarters in Jalan Raja Laut, followed by a brief meet-and-greet session with staff members in the lobby.
Accompanying Fadlun on the way up to his office was DBKL Socioeconomic Development executive director Ismadi Sakirin and other City Hall officials.
Formerly the Putrajaya Corporation president since 2022, Fadlun took over as the 16th mayor from Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif, who had been reassigned to a new role at PETRONAS as property adviser, effective today.
Fadlun, 58, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and brings over 28 years of experience in urban planning, regional development and city management.

His appointment had received the consent of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, in accordance with Section 4(2) of the Federal Capital Act 1960.
