Umno Youth will not protect wrongdoers proven guilty, Dr Akmal says
MELAKA – Umno Youth Chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh says he will not protect any individual involved in wrongdoing if there is clear proof to support the allegation.
He said that anyone with credible evidence should come forward instead of making empty accusations.
“For me, if there is proof, then present it. Do not just make baseless claims.
“Today, the world has no boundaries, so if there really is evidence, show it.
“Do not start making all sorts of accusations just because the election is near.

“If someone is proven guilty, then they are guilty.
“We do not protect anyone who is in the wrong, but do not go as far as spreading slander to bring others down,” he said.
He was responding to a Facebook post by blogger and activist Datuk Zaharin Mohd Yasin, who alleged that a Umno State Assemblyman in Melaka was involved in misconduct with a married woman.
Dr Akmal spoke to reporters after attending the Melaka State Pineapple Technology Transfer and Crop Management Programme 2025 on Tuesday.
He said that baseless allegations not only tarnished personal reputations but also affected the image of the party and the state government.

“In the past, there were also people making all kinds of claims, but in the end, it just went silent.
“The person spreading it was the same person as well. So, I do not want to pay too much attention to this matter,” he said.
He also added that anyone making allegations should present proof, stressing that they were firm on such matters.
He further noted that in a previous case involving a Umno Youth Exco member accused of misconduct, he had suspended the individual and allowed the issue to be resolved properly.
Dr Akmal, who is also the Melaka State Executive Councillor for Rural Development, Agriculture, and Food Security, reiterated that Umno Youth and the state government would not shield anyone proven guilty of wrongdoing.
He said that personal matters do not reflect on the Melaka state government, which remained committed to moving forward.
He also added that anyone can talk but they were not afraid, and if real evidence existed, it should be presented.
