A horrifying moment struck a heavily pregnant wife when her husband, Mohd Fuad Fahmie Ghazali, 33, was shot 18 times and collapsed in her arms during a brutal attack at their home in Sungai Golok.

PASIR MAS – A pregnant wife went through a terrifying ordeal when her husband, Mohd Fuad Fahmie Ghazali, 33, was shot 18 times and collapsed in her arms during a brutal attack at their home in Sungai Golok, Thailand, on Saturday evening.

The victim, who had been installing CCTV cameras, did not have time to escape when two men believed to be his wife’s cousins approached from behind and opened fire repeatedly until they ran out of bullets. He was left critically wounded and later died at Sungai Golok Hospital around 9pm.

Wan Fatihah Mat Hussin, 35, said the incident, which occurred around 6.40pm (Thai time), happened so fast that she could only rush to her husband and hold him after he fell from the gunshots.

“The two suspects came from behind and shot my husband using two pistols each.

They fired shot after shot at him. I ran to him and managed to hold him after he collapsed.

Even after that, the two men kept shooting until their bullets were finished.

Then they just walked away.

“I screamed for help from people nearby,” she said when met at the Kampung Apam Muslim Cemetery on Sunday.

Wan Fatihah said her husband was shot in the body, neck and several other areas and a total of 18 gunshots was confirmed after the post-mortem examination.

The body of Fuad was laid to rest at Kampung Apam Muslim Cemetery at 2.30pm on Sunday. Wan Fatihah appeared overcome with grief throughout the funeral and was seen repeatedly touching her pregnant belly — her baby is due on Dec 10, which coincidentally is also her late husband’s birthday.

Earlier, Narathiwat Police confirmed that a Malaysian man was critically shot at a house in Sungai Golok on Saturday before being pronounced dead.

A Narathiwat police spokesperson said initial investigations suggested that the case was believed to have stemmed from a debt dispute, based on witness interviews near the scene.

“The victim was a Malaysian national with a family, residing in this township area.

“The suspect, a local man, allegedly attacked the victim using a 9mm pistol.

“After shooting him, the suspect fled,” the spokesperson said.

He added that the suspect’s identity has been identified and a manhunt is currently underway.
