Decision soon on stalled highway stretch in Kampung Jawa
PETALING JAYA: A decision is expected within days on a stalled stretch of the West Coast Expressway in Kampung Jawa, Klang, which affects 19 residents and landowners who have not relocated.
Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari said the decision will be reached at a special meeting on Nov 3 involving representatives of the state government, the highway concessionaire, and relevant ministries.
He said the meeting would deal with outstanding issues, particularly concerning residents who have yet to relocate, Bernama reported.
“The meeting will review the latest developments including several technical issues and misunderstandings that have arisen among residents in the affected area,” he was quoted as saying.
The 233km-long highway runs from Banting, Selangor to Taiping, Perak, with eight of its 11 sections having been opened. Completion of the highway is scheduled for 2027.

Several stretches in Selangor have stalled over problems with land acquisition and technical adjustments.
The project drew public attention after reports emerged that 19 residents in Kampung Jawa refused to relocate, even though most of the land-acquisition process had been completed.
Amirudin said the state government remains committed to ensuring the highway project is fully completed without compromising the rights and interests of the affected residents.
“We want everyone to understand that the state government is not neglecting residents’ complaints, but is instead ensuring that every decision is made comprehensively and responsibly,” he said.
Most of the misunderstandings had stemmed from technical issues and miscommunication among the involved parties, he said.
