Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal was suspended from Bersatu on Oct 14 for violating the party’s constitution and code of conduct.

PETALING JAYA: Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal has accused Bersatu’s appeals board of bias.

This came after the appeals board justified delays in hearing his appeal and that of others on grounds that it had yet to meet the required three-member quorum.

Wan Fayhsal told a press conference at Parliament that he and several other members facing disciplinary action had received responses stating that their appeals remained pending despite the 14-day deadline approaching.

“The appeals board chairman, Zulkifli Nordin, is currently the sole member of the panel. The panel cannot convene a meeting as the quorum requires three members,” he said.

“As long as the board does not convene, there will be no definitive decision on the appeal.”

Wan Fayhsal questioned whether this delay was intentional.

Apa Lagi Alasan Muhyiddin Kali Ini

“Is this being done deliberately to let the appeal period expire? This is a betrayal of the appeal process and an injustice to our positions within Bersatu.”

During Bersatu’s general assembly last month, party president Muhyiddin Yassin revealed that certain quarters were collecting signatures to oust him, prompting some delegates to urge that he step down.

The subsequent turmoil has since led to Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan’s sacking and Wan Fayhsal’s suspension for violating the party’s constitution and code of conduct.

The party’s disciplinary board also expelled four division chiefs — Azrudin Idris (Hang Tuah Jaya), Faizal Asmar (Pengerang), Fadhli Ismail (Ipoh Timur) and Isa Saidi (Ampang).

Wan Fayhsal also criticised Bersatu Youth chief Hilman Idham for stating that individuals facing disciplinary action would not be allowed to return to the party.

He said such statements were inappropriate as the appeals board had yet to decide on their appeals.

Hilman had told Utusan Malaysia that instead of showing remorse after facing disciplinary action, the expelled members continued to defy party rules and discipline, citing Wan Fayhsal’s repeated absence from four disciplinary hearings after his suspension.
