SHAH ALAM – Police have confirmed that the sharp weapons seized from a 14-year-old suspect in the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old female student at a school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, yesterday, were purchased online.

Selangor Police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the weapons, two knives and a kerambit, were bought by the suspect some time ago, and investigations are ongoing to determine the exact purchase date.

“Based on the preliminary post-mortem report, the cause of death was multiple stabs to the chest and neck, (but) only a knife was used in the attack,” he told a press conference today.

Shazeli also said that the case does not involve bullying, and the suspect has no prior disciplinary record at school.

“Social media influence and emotional triggers have been identified as possible factors behind the suspect’s actions. We are still investigating which social media platforms the suspect accessed to facilitate our investigations,” he said.
