‘Heads must roll’: Yeo Bee Yin demands accountability over rising crimes in schools after fatal stabbing of 16-year-old student
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 — Puchong MP Yeo Bee Yin today said “heads must roll” over recent criminal cases in schools, calling for firm action to make schools safe again for children.
Speaking during the Budget 2026 debate in the Dewan Rakyat, Yeo said that the time for leniency was over.
“I believe heads must roll for major incidents like these. We can no longer be too lenient with officers or anyone involved in criminal cases.
“What is happening is that our children are the ones getting hurt and some will end up dying,” she said.
Yeo was responding to Segamat MP R Yuneswaran, who suggested that the ministry should take disciplinary action, including sacking officers, when crimes such as murder or rape happen at schools.

Yeo described the recent cases as “madness”.
“With a heavy heart, I wish to once again raise the case of a female student who was stabbed to death by a 14-year-old pupil at a school in a major town this morning.
“This incident happened only a week after the gang rape case at a school in Melaka. I feel deeply saddened and disappointed that such cases can occur in our schools. This is madness,” she said.
Yeo, who chairs the Parliamentary Special Select Committee on Women, Children and Community Development, said the committee has decided to call the Education Ministry (KPM) and the police for a hearing, and will later table a report on school safety in Parliament.
She then asked the Speaker to allow a session for a debate once the school safety report is tabled in Parliament.

“However, the report is secondary. What is most important now is for the executive, particularly the Education Ministry, to act swiftly to make our schools safe again for our children,” she added.
Earlier today, a Form Four female student was reportedly killed after she was allegedly stabbed by a Form Two male student at a school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya.
