Sabah assembly to be dissolved before Nov 11, says CM

PETALING JAYA: The Sabah legislative assembly will be dissolved to pave the way for the 17th state election before its automatic dissolution on Nov 11, says chief minister Hajiji Noor.

However, Hajiji stopped short of saying whether the state assembly’s dissolution will be announced next month or in November, Berita Harian reported.

He said it will not depend on the meteorology department’s weather predictions, after the department said Sabah would experience wet weather in October.

“We have no choice because the state assembly automatically dissolves in November anyway. So we must (dissolve) before that,” he was quoted as saying.

“It definitely will be soon, just be patient and wait.”

The state election must be held within 60 days of the assembly’s dissolution.

Sabah is currently grappling with floods that had left hundreds displaced. Torrential rain had also caused landslides that killed 13 people, including seven children.
