PETALING JAYA: Police today arrested a local man, aged 31, who was found to have a pistol and live bullets without a licence at a workers’ quarters in Kota Bharu.

Gua Musang police chief Sik Choon Foo said the arrest was conducted at about 4pm by a team from the Gua Musang police headquarters’ criminal investigation department at an unnumbered workers quarters in the KPF Plantation Sdn Bhd area in Gua Musang.

He said further examination found a black bag containing two shotguns and one homemade pistol.

Police also found a red-capped plastic bottle containing 21 live shotgun shells as well as a wooden-handled sword with a wooden scabbard inside the house.

“The case is being investigated under Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971, Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960 and Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958,” Bernama reported Sik as saying.

The sections mentioned refer to unlawful possession of a firearm or offensive weapon.

Sik said the public is also advised not to store or use firearms and ammunition without permission and to immediately provide information if there are any suspicious activities in their respective areas.

Separately, he also said a foreign man was found dead in the vicinity yesterday.

Sik said police received a report from the public at 3.30pm regarding the discovery of the body, which was found near a garden shed.

“Initial investigations found stab wounds on the victim’s neck and left chest, believed to be caused by a sharp weapon. The body has been taken to Gua Musang Hospital’s forensic unit for a post-mortem,” he said.

Sik said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
