BN deputy chairman Mohamad Hasan said it is not proper to keep silent during Supreme Council meetings and then ‘say something different outside’.

PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional deputy chairman Mohamad Hasan has advised MIC leaders to voice their views during the coalition’s Supreme Council meetings instead of making public statements that could be misinterpreted.

Mohamad, who is also the Umno deputy president, said public statements could affect BN’s harmony, and any proposal should be discussed on the council platform, which includes all component parties.

“If you have any opinion, speak up. Don’t keep them bottled up during the meeting and then say something different outside. That’s not proper,” Berita Harian quoted him as saying after an event in Seremban today.

“There’s no need to speak outside, because it can sometimes be misinterpreted. It’s better for component party leaders to meet and discuss through the BN Supreme Council.”

His comments come after several MIC branches hinted at leaving BN, and party president SA Vigneswaran acknowledged informal discussions with Perikatan Nasional regarding MIC’s future direction.
