MACC nabs six cops over RM12,000 bribe

KUANTAN – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) of Pahang has remanded six policemen for seven days for allegedly soliciting and receiving bribes worth about RM12,000 to not take action over a ketum juice possession case.
The remand order, until Aug 6, was issued by Magistrate Khamisah Ismail after allowing the application by the MACC at the Temerloh Magistrate’s Court today.
According to sources, all six suspects, aged between 30 and in their 50s, were detained at about 9pm yesterday after turning up at the MACC’s Temerloh branch office to give their statements.
“The incident began when the suspects arrested five individuals in an operation in the Temerloh district in May for suspected possession of ketum juice.
“One of the suspects is believed to have received the bribe in cash from an individual acting as the middleman,” he said.
