Rafizi Ramli (centre) claimed he was shouted at by the PKR president, but Maszlee Malik (left) and Noor Amin Ahmad, who were present at the meeting, said they did not witness such an incident.

PETALING JAYA: Two members of PKR’s central leadership council have rubbished a claim by Rafizi Ramli that party president Anwar Ibrahim shouted at him for nearly 20 minutes during a recent meeting ahead of the May 23 party polls.

In a brief post on X last night, Perlis PKR chief Noor Amin Ahmad said he was present and did not witness any major argument.

“Don’t recall any raised voices that lasted nearly half an hour,” said the former Kangar MP.

Council member Maszlee Malik also said Rafizi’s allegation, made in a recent episode of his Yang Berhenti Menteri podcast, was baseless and exaggerated.

The former education minister said he and most of those present at the meeting could attest that no shouting or confrontation had taken place, contrary to Rafizi’s version of events.

“Not even for a minute did the president raise his voice during that last central leadership council meeting on the party elections,” he said on Facebook last night.

“Anyone who says the president shouted at him for 20 minutes is either lying, hallucinating, or suffering from chronic schizophrenia.”

Rafizi had alleged that he was harshly reprimanded by Anwar over his criticism of the party’s digital voting system, which he said lacked transparency.

The Pandan MP said he also raised concerns about the system’s technical aspects, including its source code, servers, and blockchain usage, which he claimed were open to manipulation.
