In EPF row, MCA chief says PH man made false statement
PETALING JAYA: The information chief of Pakatan Harapan’s youth wing has been accused by MCA president Wee Ka Siong of making a false and defamatory comment about Wee’s remarks on the EPF dividend.
In a statement tonight, Wee denied that he had said EPF was in critical condition, or that the retirement fund would give lower dividends, as alleged by PH Youth information chief Ammar Atan.
Wee said the EPF dividend to contributors could have been even higher (than the 6.3% declared today).
He said the higher dividend for 2024 did not negate the losses suffered by EPF in “selling low and buying high” shares of Malaysian Airports Holdings Bhd.
Ammar, who is also with Amanah, had accused Wee and Bersatu Supreme Council member Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal of trying to create panic among the people.

However, Wee accused Ammar of making a false and defamatory statement.
He said “the issue I raised was based on public records and is intended to spark a constructive discussion on EPF’s investment management. Nothing more, nothing less”.
Finance minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan had denied that EPF made a loss on the MAHB transaction saying it made a profit of RM102 million.
