VC’s resignation too sensitive to be discussed in Dewan, says minister

PETALING JAYA: Higher education minister Zambry Abdul Kadir today said that certain matters regarding the resignation of a public university’s vice-chancellor were “too sensitive” to be discussed in the Dewan Rakyat.
“If I were to explain it, there’s a lot. You can meet me personally because some matters may be too sensitive,” he told the Dewan Rakyat.
Zambry was responding to Abdul Ghani Ahmad (PN-Jerlun), who asked about the vice-chancellor’s alleged misconduct.
Neither Zambry nor Ghani identified the former vice-chancellor in question or the university he was attached to.
However, Berita Harian reported earlier this month that Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia vice-chancellor Ekhwan Toriman had resigned.
Ekhwan meanwhile said that he had been slandered. He has also lodged reports with the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.
