Perlis fire station chief remanded over false claims
The fire station chief was arrested when he went to the Perlis MACC office to give his statement yesterday afternoon

PETALING JAYA: A fire station chief in Perlis has been remanded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for six days to assist in an investigation into the submission of false claims worth RM30,000.

The fire station chief is believed to have abused his power by instructing 15 auxiliary personnel at the station to submit claims for RM96 daily allowances on days they were not on duty.

He is suspected of using these payments for his personal use, reported Bernama.

The alleged false claims were submitted from November 2023 until earlier this month.

“The station chief is believed to have verified and signed the claims despite knowing that there were days the personnel were not on duty,” said an MACC source.
