No need for legal action against PAS man, PKR MP tells Hannah

PETALING JAYA: Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung has urged Hannah Yeoh to forgive Perak PAS chief Razman Zakaria for his recent claim linking the DAP leader to the Yeoh family of the YTL Corporation Bhd conglomerate rather than pursuing legal action.

Lee said he fully supported Yeoh’s right to seek justice but disagreed with her plan to send Razman a letter of demand.

“Such misunderstanding stems from a lack of knowledge about the cultures of other races in this country,” he said in a statement.

Lee also said that such behaviour was common among Malaysians who rarely engaged with other races.

“My advice to Razman, as a politician, is to fact check and get to know other cultures before making such public statements.

“And to Hannah, now is the perfect time to respond to malicious allegations with grace and forgiveness, showcasing the values of understanding and magnanimity, especially during this lunar new year celebration,” Lee said.

Earlier today, Yeoh said she would serve Razman with a letter of demand despite his apology yesterday for claiming that she was the “daughter of a rich man” and a “daughter of YTL”.

The youth and sports minister said the PAS leader had made other allegedly defamatory allegations against her in the same speech.

In his apology for his “mistake” yesterday, Razman also expressed disappointment over the media coverage of his speech.

He accused the press of deliberately focusing on the 10-second part which referenced Yeoh without reporting on the other parts or broader issues.
