Court fixes July 28 for SRC trial verdict
The High Court has fixed July 28 to deliver its decision in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case involving former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak (pic), who is facing seven charges relating to the misappropriation of RM42mil from the company’s funds.
Justice Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali set the date after the prosecution and the defence ended their submissions here on Friday (June 5).
“Both have provided lengthy and extensive written submissions that run into 2,000 pages that will assist the court in ensuring, evaluating and determining if the prosecution has proved its case.
“For which I intend to deliver my final decision next month on July 28 at 10am,” he said.
Najib’s defence had largely contended that he did not know the monies in his bank accounts originated from SRC International, a subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
Najib is facing seven charges – three for criminal breach of trust, one for abuse of power and three for money laundering involving SRC International funds totalling RM42mil.
