Cops arrest man for allegedly threatening MCA Youth chief

A 40-year-old man has been detained for allegedly threatening MCA Youth chief Nicole Wong Siaw Ting.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the man was detained at about noon on Wednesday (May 20).

“We also seized a mobile phone and two SIM cards.

“The case is classified under Sections 506,509 and 292 of the Penal Code as well as Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998,” he said when contacted Friday (May 22).

Investigations showed that the suspect is mentally disabled and has a disabled person card since 2015, he added.

“He has also received psychiatric treatment in the past.

“The suspect has since been released on police bail while we wait for the psychiatric report,” ACP Nik Ezanee said.

Wong lodged a police report last month after receiving threats to her personal safety, along with that of her daughter’s.

She had said her personal information was also misused, believed by the same person, in various malicious content on social media.
