Territorial Army soldier found hanged at training centre’s garage

IPOH: A 37-year-old Territorial Army soldier was found hanging from the roof of a garage at the Wataniah Training Centre (Puswatan) here today.

The body of the man with the rank of sergeant was discovered at 7.09am.

Police do not suspect foul play.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz said the gruesome discovery was made by a training centre officer who immediately contacted the authorities.

“The man was found fully-clothed, wearing a tracksuit. Initial investigation revealed that there was no sign of foul play on his body.

“The body was later sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) for a post-mortem examination. the deceased’s family was informed about the incident,” he said when contacted today.

Asmadi said the post-mortem found the man’s death to be due to compression of the neck, consistent with a hanging.

He added that police have classified the case as a “sudden death report” but investigations are still ongoing. Nst
