Perak Sultan accepts Faizal’s resignation as MB

The Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah has accepted Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu’s resignation as the state’s Mentri Besar.

In a press statement issued by the Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Pengelola Bijaya Diraja Kol (R) Datuk Abd Rahim Mohamad Nor, he said the resignation of Faizal, of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), took immediate effect on Tuesday (March 10).

He said Sultan Nazrin would now evaluate and consider the names of candidates for the post that had been submitted by Bersatu, Umno and PAS.

“His Royal Highness will appoint the one with the trust of the assemblymen as the 13th Mentri Besar.

“The date for the swearing-in ceremony will be set later,” he said.

Apart from Faizal, who is state Bersatu chairman, Perak Umno chairman Datuk Saarani Mohamad and state PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria too have sought an audience with the Sultan this morning.
