Azmin ally Khalid Jaafar says yet to receive show-cause letter from PKR

Datuk Khalid Jaafar, an ally of PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, says he has yet to receive a show-cause letter from the party that has already gone viral on social media.

The letter, purportedly from the PKR disciplinary board dated Jan 18, asks him to explain his criticism of party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim posted on Facebook last July.

“You are accused of uploading an article which has raised suspicions against Anwar through Facebook on last July 18 and 24.

“You are given 14 days to respond, ” read the letter, allegedly signed by PKR disciplinary board chairman Datuk Ahmad Kassim.

When contacted Thursday (Jan 23), Khalid said he has only seen the letter on social media and had yet to receive a copy of it.

Khalid, the strategic director of Selangor PKR, was once an Anwar ally.

He worked as Anwar’s press secretary when the latter was Education Minister until he became the Deputy Prime Minister in the 1990s.

Khalid is currently adviser to the Economic Affairs Minister, the portfolio that Azmin holds.

The apparent show-cause letter was the latest in a string of actions seen to be taken against those who have spoken up against Anwar, with the most recent being a show-cause letter issued against PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin on Jan 15.
