Lokman: Take action against Hisham over betrayal, Dr M middleman role

The Umno disciplinary board should take action against its former vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein for his involvement in influencing party leaders to support the leadership of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, says Datuk Lokman Noor Adam.

The Umno supreme council member said Hishammuddin’s action was clearly against the party’s supreme council decision not to have any cooperation with any component parties from Pakatan Harapan.

“I hope no parties will defend him for his betrayal.

“Umno should take action against him,” he said in a statement.

It was reported that Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali had met with 22 Umno MPs, including Hishammuddin, at the minister’s house in Putrajaya late Monday (Nov 18) night.

Lokman said although not all 22 Umno lawmakers supported Dr Mahathir, he asked Hishammuddin whether he realised such a “betrayal” would disappoint the Barisan Nasional and PAS machinery who had campaigned in the recently concluded Tanjung Piai by-election.

He also said he had on Oct 30 lodged a complaint against Hishammuddin to the party’s disciplinary board.

Adam said Hishammuddin had openly become Dr Mahathir’s “middleman” to bring Umno leaders to join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), without any action taken against him.
