Liew denies commenting on LTTE issuE

Deputy Defence Minister Liew Chin Tong’s office denies that the minister had commented on the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) issue. –

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Defence Minister Liew Chin Tong denies talking about the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) issue in an interview with a local newsportal recently.

Liew’s office in a statement said he specifically declined responding to the matter.

In the article where it was alleged that Liew said the LTTE was an attempt to turn the DAP into a bogeyman, Liew clarified that he was actually talking about how DAP had been made to look like the bogeyman for so long.

“The audio recording (of the interview) does not reflect any comments on the LTTE issue,” the statement read.

As such, the deputy minister’s office said the headline of the article in question was erroneous and a request has been made for it to be amended.
